President Thaçi decorates former French Prime Minister Alain Juppé with “The Order of Freedom” medalFrance, March 14, 2018 –The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, after the meeting with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, also met with former French Prime Minister Alain Juppé, whom he decorated with “The Order of Freedom” medal.
Alain Juppé during the years 1993-1995 was Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, during 1995-1997 he was Prime Minister of France and since 2011 had served again as Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs.
“This order is awarded on the jubilee year of the tenth anniversary of Kosovo’s independence. France is among the first states to announce and recognize the independence of Kosovo. Therefore, Kosovo is forever grateful to the French state and people”, said President Thaçi.
President Thaçi assessed Former French Prime Minister Alain Juppé as a statesman with a rich public service career, influencing not only the French but also the other people in the world.
“Your attitudes reflect your principles, of which the main place is the one of freedom. For you this principle is without alternative and non-negotiable. You have testified this also when you have taken a position to stop the genocide in Rwanda to save people’s lives. You have also lined up in favor of human rights in the time of great uncertainties about Kosovo, in the early 1990s, when in the capacity of the Foreign Minister you understood the essence of the righteous demands for the freedom of our citizens. Together with German Minister Klaus Kinkel, you raised the issue of Kosovo internationally, since the beginning of the Bosnian war. Furthermore, recently you didn’t accept the comparison theory of Crimea with the case of Kosovo. You, as a politician of the word and a man of action, have strengthened even more the concept of freedom as a European right-wing. This is understandable because your homeland, France, is a promoter of the concept of universal freedom and equality”, said President Thaçi about former Prime Minister Juppé.
The Head of State has said that the journey of former Prime Minister Juppé and that of France in the last three decades are so often encountered that there is no dimension that has not been touched by his decision-making, be it as an MP or Advisor to the Prime Minister, a delegated Minister of the Budget, Minister of the Environment, Minister of Defense, Foreign Minister, Republican Leader, Prime Minister and Presidential Candidate.
On the other hand, former French Prime Minister Alain Juppé, stated of being honored with “The Order of Freedom” medal, awarded by President Thaçi.
He stressed that he supports the current French government and its policy on the strengthening of the European Union and the membership of the Western Balkan states.
“The membership in the European Union must be done with care and be sustainable”, said former French Prime Minister Alain Juppé.
President Thaçi added that the alliances give solutions, but they are also selections and on behalf of the people of Kosovo he has thanked former French Prime Minister Alain Juppé, who had chosen to give support to Kosovo in a clear and principled alignment in favor of freedom.
