The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani – Sadriu, participated today in the
inauguration of a green oasis in Prishtina's Main Square.
This project is implemented by UNDP and UN-Habitat, as part of the framework of activities organized to mark the Earth Day.
In situations when green spaces are insufficient, when air pollution continues to be a daily problem and when the dynamics of life is such that it often keeps us away from nature and from a close contact with it, the so-called “Urban Gardens” are innovative solutions that incorporate all these specifications in one place, bringing nature to us.
This “Urban Garden” is a reminder to all of us that there are always ways, increasingly innovative, to contribute to addressing the environmental problems and to raising awareness about the issues, and improvement of our relationship with nature.
We will endeavour that the mind set which has inspired the design of “Urban Gardens”, leads us towards policymaking much more considerate of the environment that surrounds us and which enables economic development to be carried out in harmony with environmental protection.
