President Osmani praised the proceeding of local elections at a meeting with the EU Election Observation Mission delegation

President Vjosa Osmani received at a meeting a delegation of the EU Election Observation Mission. The delegation led by MEP Lucas Mandle and MEP Viola von Cramon also included Róża Thun Und Hohenstein (EPP), Ms Michèle Rivasi (Greens / EFA), Thijs Reuten (S&D) as well as a number of EU experts.
President Osmani praised the proceeding of local elections, confirming the standard built by the Republic of Kosovo on holding of free and democratic elections. Madam President also underlined that according to the information received by our institutions, the contest in the municipalities inhabited by Serbs was influenced by the impositions by illegal structures of Serbia, which have affected the race between political entities and the expression of the free will of the voters.
 
Thanking them for their presence and readiness to stand by Kosovo in every step of consolidation of the democracy in the country, President Osmani expressed her gratitude for the positive response received by the European Parliament and praised the presence of this delegation in observing the elections.
 
Regarding the local elections, the delegation assessed the election process as a democratic process, characterized by the high level of professionalism and integrity of the institutions but also of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
 
President Osmani also discussed at the meeting the work of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo in the field of rule of law, the visa liberalization process, the need for further empowerment of women and youth, and a number of other issues.
