The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu was received today at a meeting by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America, Nancy Pelosi.
President Osmani thanked Speaker Pelosi for her support to Kosovo over decades, particularly at times when Kosovo needed it most; throughout the process of achieving freedom and statehood. She stressed that the United States is the most strategic ally and partner of the Republic of Kosovo and informed Speaker Pelosi of Kosovo's clear alignment with US policies, specifically regarding sanctions against Russia and support to Ukraine. President Osmani expressed gratitude for the continued commitment of Speaker Pelosi to bring our two countries further closer together, even now when our continent is facing challenging times and when our common democratic and peace-loving values are under threat. She also stressed the importance of advancing Kosovo's Euro-Atlantic path, now that the security challenges posed by autocratic regimes are growing.
During the meeting, President Osmani and Speaker Pelosi discussed the strengthening of cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, as well as opportunities for expansion of cooperation in overcoming joint challenges in the region and in the international arena.
At the end of the meeting, President Osmani invited Speaker Pelosi to visit Kosovo, assessing that such a visit would further contribute to the advancement of excellent and special relations between Kosovo and the United States.
