President Osmani and Minister Gërvalla met with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo Donika Gërvalla, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjarto.

The President expressed t the gratitude of the people of Kosovo to Minister Szijjarto for the contribution that Hungary has given to the process of Kosovo's state-building and its international consolidation.

“We highly appreciate Hungary's affirmative stance on visa liberalization for Kosovo, as well as Kosovo's European integration process,”  said Madam President. “Kosovo has for a long while now met all the requirements set by the European Union and we expect that the commitment of the people and institutions of Kosovo to European values and standards is respected,” added President Osmani.

The President also underlined the excellent relations between the two countries. “The ties between our nations are long-established and coincide with the ambition of our people to protect and promote European values,” said President Osmani.

President Osmani and Minister Szijjarto also spoke about the dialogue with Serbia, on which Madam President stated that Kosovo's institutions remain committed to continuing the dialogue facilitated by the EU and supported by the US. She stressed that the parties to the dialogue should be treated as equals and that the process should conclude with mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia, within the existing borders.

The Foreign Ministers stressed the importance of cooperation in many fields and underlined the fact that the provision of 75 scholarships by Hungary vis the “Stipendium Hungaricum” scheme is an excellent opportunity for our young people to obtain training in various fields in Hungary, but also to get a far better understanding of Hungarian culture.
