President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received at a meeting today the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Kazuyuki Hamada.

President Jahjaga classified the ending of the supervision of the independence as a joint success and highly appreciated the role that Japan has played until now in the developments in our country. She stated that Kosovo has built very good relations with all its neighbours and has proven to be an example of peace and stability in the region and further afield.

President Jahjaga stated that after the end of the supervision of its independence, Kosovo will begin a new chapter in state-building, where the support of the friendly states plays a great role, especially in the field of economic development. She appreciated the support of Japan, not only through direct financial support for the reconstruction of the infrastructure but also its political help in augmentation of the number of recognitions of the Independence of Kosovo from countries that have currently not done so as yet.

Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Kazuyuki Hamada stated that despite the challenges with which the new country of Kosovo is facing, it is making progress in building of the state institutions and offered the continuous support of Japan in this direction. He stated that the institutions of Kosovo have proved their dedication to peace and stability, not only in the region but also globally as well.

President Jahjaga and Vice-Minister Hamada agreed that cooperation between japan and Kosovo must be intensified in the fields of common interest for both countries.
