President Osmani, Speaker Konjufca, Prime Minister Kurti and US Deputy Ambassador pay tribute on the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in the USA
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, the Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the US Deputy Ambassador Nicholas J. Giacobbe, paid tribute and laid a wreath at the memorial plaque “Kosovo remembers”, on the 20th anniversary of terrorist attacks in the USA.
In front of the memorial plaque of September 11, President Osmani stressed that the attacks of 2001, awakened the conscience of the entire world. According to her, on this anniversary, Kosovo reconfirms its support for the USA and honors the memory of thousands of victims of the terrorist attacks, among which there were also Albanians.
“The USA are our strategic and permanent ally. Today we are close to them, as in any other situations. We remember the victims of 9/11 and confirm once again how the most pro-American people in the world will stand together in the fight against terrorism alongside the USA, but also by sharing the pain of days like this one. September 11, 2001, was the call of human conscience, mobilization against a general evil and a reminder that interpersonal solidarity in cases like this attack is a guarantee for a better world and a contribution to the fight not only against terrorism but also for freedom, peace and democracy in the world”, President Osmani emphasized.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, has said that the terrorist attacks of 20 years ago on the Twin Towers in New York were attacks against the entire free world and democratic values. Therefore, Konjufca added, these attacks arose a unique international response to this ever-increasing global evil.
“The attacks of September 11, 2001 shocked the citizens of Kosovo and the entire Albanian people, because a strong friendship and emotional bond was built between our two people. Kosovo continues to be a loyal partner of the USA in all their international commitments”, stressed Speaker Konjufca.
Whereas, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that on this day, the entire American nation is honored.
“Today we are commemorating the 20th anniversary of the deadly attacks that shocked us all. We honor, with pain and solidarity, the families of 2977 innocent victims and the entire American nation”, declared Prime Minister Kurti, while adding that Kosovo deeply sympathizes with the United States of America, a historical and irreplaceable ally of Kosovo.
