The Acting President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani has concluded her two-day visit to Switzerland, where she was on visit at the invitation of the Swiss Parliament.
During this visit, she met with the heads of the Swiss state, with whom there was discussed about cooperation between the two countries, assistance in the field of development, identification of new areas in the field of bilateral cooperation and concrete projects.
Mrs. Osmani thanked for the hospitality and substantial meetings the President of the National Council, Andreas Aebi, the President of the Swiss Senate (Council of States), Alex Kuprecht, the Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis, the First Vice President of the Swiss National Council, Irène KÄLIN, the Kosovo-Switzerland Friendship Group and other state officials.
The possibility of supporting the health sector by the Swiss state was discussed at the meetings. The Swiss state authorities have shown their readiness to support Kosovo’s path towards the EU, as well as membership in various international organizations, a large number of which are based in Switzerland.
“The rule of law, democratization, security, transparency and accountability remain common objectives and our allies will continue to be with us in promoting them as they have been so far. While, in the field of development, I stressed that the future of Kosovo will be oriented towards investing in human capital and in this regard the basis of any success is the investment in education, in which direction I received the commitment of our partners for support in terms of introducing the dual education system in our country”, said Acting President Osmani.
At the meetings with the heads of state of Switzerland, Mrs. Osmani also discussed about the importance of regional cooperation, in the context of which the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue was mentioned. The Acting President emphasized that the epilogue of this dialogue should be mutual recognition with the current borders of the Republic of Kosovo.
There was also discussed about the possibility of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the initiation of a project for the exchange of best practices in the field of parliamentarism was announced.
During the two-day visit to Switzerland, Acting President Osmani also met with the friendship group between Kosovo and Switzerland in the Swiss parliament, as well as with the Kosovar diaspora.
She has met a group of expatriates who are making successful careers in politics and other fields.
“I experienced special pride and joy during this visit, witnessing the achievements and success of our diaspora. “They are our best ambassadors and our strongest connection with the Swiss state, as well as the best opportunity to turn words and discussions into concrete projects for the good of our country”, said among others Mrs. Osmani.
