The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, received today the Auditor General of Sweden, Christina Gellerbrant Hagberg, accompanied by a delegation from the Swedish National Audit Office.
The excellent relations between Kosovo and Sweden, as well as the continued Swedish support for strengthening the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo were highly praised at the meeting.
Acting President Haxhiu emphasized the importance of independent auditing for transparency, accountability and responsible management of public money. She praised the work of the National Audit Office of Kosovo and its role in strengthening citizens’ trust in public institutions.
In particular, the Acting President expressed gratitude for the support that the Swedish National Audit Office has provided to our NAO over the years, contributing to the building of its professional capacities, institutional development and the advancement of audit practices in compliance with international standards.
The importance of continuing cooperation between the two audit institutions, with a focus on strengthening professional capacities, exchanging experiences and implementing international audit standards was also underlined during the meeting.
Acting President Haxhiu reconfirmed Kosovo’s commitment to good governance, transparency, institutional integrity and public accountability.
