The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has decreed today 17 judges with an initial mandate, based on the proposal made by the Kosovo Judicial Council.
Of the decreed judges, 15 are members of the Albanian community and 2 are from the Serbian community.
During the swearing-in ceremony at the Presidency, the new judges pledged to remain loyal to the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Kosovo, to respect professional ethics and to exercise their duties with integrity, professionalism and impartiality.
Acting President Haxhiu emphasized that assuming the office of a judge is a great public responsibility, because judicial decisions directly affect the lives of citizens.
She expressed her hope that during their mandate, judges would be independent from any political, financial or personal influence, emphasizing that justice is not negotiable.
