The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, who is currently in New York where the 78th session of the United Nations Assembly is being held, at a ceremony held at the Consulate of Kosovo awarded the Order of Freedom to the former Congressman, the former head of the Albanian-American League, the great friend of Kosovo, a contributor to our freedom and independence, Mr. Joe DioGuardi and activist Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi.
According to President Osmani, the Order is an expression of gratitude of the citizens of Kosovo to their tireless work, for the extraordinary cooperation and continuous engagement for the freedom, democracy, and independence of Kosovo and for the continuous advancement of relations between Kosovo and the USA.
“You have been our voice during the dark times! You have been our hope in the time of hopelessness. You were a catalyst for the affirmation of our demands everywhere in the world, so our freedom also bears your signature”, President Osmani emphasized at this ceremony.
The awarding of Joe DioGuardi coincided with his 83rd birthday, with President Osmani expressing her best wishes and emphasizing that “Joe personifies America, our eternal ally, just as bequeathed to us by the historic president Dr. Ibrahim Rugova “.
According to President Osmani, Joe and Shirley are extraordinary contributors and great friends of Kosovo.
“You both have a special place in the heart of every Kosovar! You remind us how difficult our struggle for rights, freedom and independence has been. You remind us that without the support of friends results cannot be achieved, hence may God bless the USA, God bless our eternal friendship!” said President Osmani.
