President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today in a farewell visit, the KFOR Commander, the German General Volker Halbauer, who was accompanied by the forthcoming Commander of the peace keeping forces in Kosovo, Italian General Salvatore Farina.
President Jahjaga commended General Halbauer on his, and on the endeavours of the KFOR soldiers, towards peace keeping and offering of safety and security for all the citizens of Kosovo.
Madam President also thanked the KFOR for the role that this force has played towards the achievement of the full capacities of the KSF and in the Euro-Atlantic integration processes of Republic of Kosovo.
President Jahjaga wished the new KFOR Commander, General Farina, a warm welcome to Kosovo and expressed the readiness of the institutions of Kosovo to continue the cooperation with KFOR in benefit of the peace and stability not only in Kosovo but the rest of the region as well.
The departing KFOR Commander, General Halbauer, thanked President Jahjaga for the cooperation and reiterated the NATO’s determination to continue the peace keeping mission in Kosovo in congruence with its mandate, to offer a safe environment and maintain general stability.
