The President of the Swiss Confederation, Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, has sent a letter of congratulations to the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi.
In his letter, President Johann N. Schneider-Ammann wrote that our two countries share common interests, notably with regard to the stability and the prosperity of the Western Balkans.

I would like to congratulate you on your election as President of the Republic of Kosovo and to express my best wishes for your success in this eminent office.
Switzerland and Kosovo are linked by close human ties and enjoy friendly relations. Our two countries also share common interests, notably with regard to the stability and the prosperity of the Western Balkans. Switzerland is committed to these important objectives and engaged in Kosovo and the region through a broad range of development cooperation and peace support programs. I look forward to pursuing a fruitful cooperation with Kosovo.
