The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, with the motivation for high humanism and professional commitment to the life and the health of children in Kosovo, awarded today the “Saint Tereza” Presidential Medal to “Gift of Life International”, and their representative for Kosovo, prof. Dr. Mazllum Belegu and the member of the Board of this organization Albana Krasniqi.
The organization “Gift of Life Kosova”, in cooperation with “Gift of Life International”, based in New York, handles the organization and sending of the children with heart problems for treatment in clinics in the US and European countries. In Kosovo, free cardiac surgery interventions and prevention programs have been performed for the benefit of children with heart disease.
During the award ceremony, President Osmani praised the contribution of this organization, as well as Mr. Belegu's and Mrs. Krasniqi's contribution in helping to treat Kosovar children suffering from heart problems.
“This organization has been doing extraordinary humanitarian work for years, treating hundreds of children in Kosovo who suffer from heart problems,” said President Osmani. According to her, this humanitarian engagement towards children deserves the appreciation of the whole society and will have the support of state institutions.
