Following the meetings with the President and the Prime Minister of Iceland, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, was also received in a meeting by the Speaker of the Assembly of Iceland, Birgir Ármannsson.
In the meeting with the Speaker of the Assembly Ármannsson, President Osmani thanked Iceland for its support to Kosovo, highlighting the importance of extending it further in the international arena. In this spirit, the President expressed the commitment of Kosovo’s institutions to deepen bilateral cooperation during the Council of Europe Icelandic Presidency, underlining the importance of protecting common values, at this crucial time for Europe.
President Osmani and Assembly Speaker Ármannsson discussed the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation as well.
Furthermore, President Osmani also spoke about the latest developments in Kosovo. The President stated that the institutions of the Republic keep being committed to the rule of law and the advancement of democracy, as estimated in the latest international indices, where Kosovo made extraordinary progress.
President Osmani also emphasized that Kosovo keeps being committed to close cooperation and coordination with international allies to contribute to sustainable peace and security.
The Assembly Speaker Ármannsson thanked President Osmani for her visit and emphasized that Iceland is committed to further deepening the relations between our two peoples and countries.
