The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Vjosa Osmani – Sadriu, received today in a meeting former Presidents: Fatmir Sejdiu, Atifete Jahjaga and Behgjet Pacolli
President Osmani said that her invitation to meet with the three former Presidents is aimed at building a new institutional culture of respect for the institutional memory and tradition.
“Likewise, to build a new model of continuous consultation of former Presidents, especially on issues that are of national interest, and the well-being of our citizens, in order to learn from their experience, and to constantly join our forces to solve the problems faced by our citizens, to whom, each of the presidents have served in certain phases”, said President Osmani.
Appreciating the contribution and commitment of former President Fatmir Sejdiu, President Osmani stressed that President Sejdiu, the first President of the Republic of Kosovo after the independence has been the key person in the most historic processes of declaring the country’s independence.
She further praised the contribution and commitment of former President Jahjaga, as the first woman President.
“President Jahjaga, as the first woman President, who built an excellent model not only of representing women within the country, but representing the interests of all citizens abroad, and also pushing forward causes such as gender equality, and in particular the issue of the survivors of sexual violence during the war. An issue which I hope we will push forward together until we have justice for each of the victims”, stressed President Osmani.
Further on, the President of the country also praised the commitment of President Pacolli.
“President Pacolli, who has also served as Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister has covered foreign policy for a long time, to cooperate in particular regarding the issue of bilateral relations with states separately, but also the multilateral goals our Republic has”, emphasized President Osmani.
On the other hand, former President Fatmir Sejdiu initially congratulated President Osmani on taking office, wishing her success in her further work. He has expressed readiness to assist the country in important processes. “As if I have offered from the beginning at every meeting I had with the elected presidents of Kosovo, with all the potential, with all the capacities that I have I will offer my experience, to help the country”, said former President Sejdiu.
Former President Jahjaga, after congratulating President Osmani, said that she is the right choice at the Head of State.
“You are the right choice, at the right time for Kosovo and all the citizens of Kosovo, especially for the woman of Kosovo. We have a lot of work to do together”, said former President Jahjaga.
Whereas, former President Pacolli said that he feels happy that Kosovo has a dignified representation.
