President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, conveyed felicitations to the President of the United States of America, Mr. Barack Obama, on the anniversary of the independence of the United States of America.

The felicitatory note states:

Dear Mr. President,

On behalf of the people of the Republic of Kosovo, on behalf of its institutions and on my personal behalf, I would like to extend the most heartfelt congratulations to You and the American people on this anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The United States has brought peace, freedom and democracy to nations and peoples around the world with its belief that liberty ought to be enjoyed by all. Your commitment to these values inspires all of us to further these ideals.

I would like to use this opportunity to express the deepest gratitude of the institutions and citizens of Kosovo for the continuous support of the American citizens who have stood by us during the most trying times ensuring that Kosovo citizens together with their strategic allies establish a democratic state where all citizens are guaranteed equal rights and freedoms. We will always remain grateful for your support and for making it possible for Kosovo citizens to live in freedom and peace.

I would like to reassure You that we remain committed to ensure the democratic functioning of our institutions, the establishment of rule of law, the integration of communities and strengthening of our position as a factor of peace, stability and prosperity in the region and beyond. Kosovo is determined in its Euro-Atlantic path and we are confident that you will continue to remain our closest partner and ally as we reach this goal.

I would like to wish You warm celebrations on this special day for Your country and the American people.  Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
