The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga received today Mr. Stephen Rapp, Ambassador of the United States of America for war crimes, to discuss about the establishment process of the Special Court.
President Jahjaga informed Ambassador Rapp about the conclusion of the review process of the amendments by the Constitutional Court which opens the way for the establishment of the Special Court, which will ensure a credible and responsible process to face the charges raised in the report of the Council of Europe.
President Jahjaga said that the institutions of Kosovo have already proven the responsibility for this process and remain committed to fulfill this international obligation, which will prove the seriousness of the Republic of Kosovo as a responsible member of the international arena.
President Jahjaga stressed that, based on her constitutional role, she will continue to be engaged with all the institutions and parliamentary groups and the political spectrum, to discuss the responsibilities and implications arising from the process of the establishment of the Special Court, which will not judge the liberation war of the people of Kosovo, but will determine the individual responsibility of the raised charges.
