President Shiroka Pula: KFOR continues to hold a special place in our security architecture

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Justina Shiroka Pula, attended the KFOR change of command ceremony today.

In her address on this occasion, President Shiroka Pula said that it was a pleasure to be present at this important moment of the change of command of KFOR, a mission that has played a special role in maintaining peace and stability in Kosovo for more than 27 years.

“A significant part of Kosovo’s history is the story of our partnership with our allies. Since 1999, KFOR has been part of this journey. Today, as our security institutions develop their capacities and assume greater responsibilities, this partnership remains important for our country’s stability and our Euro-Atlantic perspective”, President Shiroka Pula stated.

She further stated that, over the years, with the support of international partners, Kosovo has built and strengthened its security institutions, which today bear direct responsibility for responding to security challenges and protecting its citizens.

According to the President, this progress demonstrates that the partnership has yielded tangible results.

“Kosovo’s institutions have advanced in professionalism, capacity and responsibility, while maintaining close cooperation with KFOR and other international partners. KFOR continues to hold a special place in our security architecture. Its presence, mandate and cooperation with domestic institutions contribute to overall security and public confidence,” President Shiroka Pula emphasized.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Justina Shiroka Pula, expressed her deepest gratitude to all the military personnel and members of the troop-contributing nations who have served with KFOR since 1999, adding that many have spent long periods away from their families, serving in Kosovo with dedication and a sense of responsibility.

She said that their contribution is part of our shared history and will continue to be valued by the citizens of Kosovo.

“Our strategic objective of NATO membership remains clear. We aspire for Kosovo one day to be not only a beneficiary of security, but also a direct contributor to it. We seek to stand alongside our allies, participating in joint efforts for peace and security, including international missions, in accordance with our status and obligations as a future NATO member”, President Shiroka Pula affirmed.

She further stated that the change of command is an opportunity to reaffirm the continuity of our partnership.

“Major General Ulutaş, I thank you once again for your service and cooperation!
Major General Vergori, I wish you every success in your new role and assure you of our readiness to continue our close cooperation with you and all KFOR personnel!” President Shiroka Pula emphasized.

In closing, President Shiroka Pula thanked KFOR for its service and for its daily contribution to peace and security in Kosovo.
