The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, hosted today at the oath-taking ceremony the nine new members of the Central Election Commission, proposed by the political parties represented in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.
The oath was taken by Hysen Durmishi and Violeta Salihu from the VETËVENDOSJE! Movement, Rashit Qalaj from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Ilir Fetahu from the Democratic League of Kosovo, Muharrem Nitaj from the Alliance, Stefan Filipovic from the Serbian List, Yildiray Bayrami from the Turkish Democratic Party of Kosovo, Delvir Tairi from the Vakat Coalition and Abedin Neziraj from the New Democratic Initiative of Kosovo.
The new members of the CEC pledged to perform their duties honestly, faithfully, impartially, professionally and conscientiously.
Acting President Haxhiu wished them success in exercising this important responsibility for the smooth running and integrity of the electoral processes in the country. She emphasized that Kosovo has proven that it has a consolidated electoral system and that this standard must be maintained and continuously strengthened.
In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, the Central Election Commission consists of a chairperson and ten members. The Acting President will soon appoint the tenth member of the CEC.
