The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received the Member of the European Parliament and newly appointed rapporteur for Kosovo Riho Terras, whom she congratulated on his appointment and expressed her readiness for in-depth cooperation to the advancement of Kosovo’s European integration.
During the meeting, President Osmani reconfirmed Kosovo’s unwavering commitment to EU integration, emphasizing the visible progress in fulfilling the membership criteria and approximation with European standards. Madam President underlined Kosovo’s efforts for membership in the European Union as a key goal for the country’s future. President Osmani also emphasized Kosovo’s dedication to human rights, the rule of law and democracy and presented the evident accomplishments.
In the light of the recent terrorist attack in the country, President Osmani called for cooperation and support from international partners in investigating the attack, confirming the commitment to a professional investigation of the case by Kosovo institutions. She emphasized that this attack targeted critical infrastructure in the country, aiming to cause major damage, which would directly affect the lives of citizens. In this regard, she spoke about the key importance of cooperation in order to further combat Serbian criminal gangs that are supported, trained and paid by the Serbian state, as well as communication and coordination in order to prevent similar attacks in the future.
President Osmani also potentiated at the meeting that it is important for the international community to maintain a unified stance towards Serbia’s destabilizing acts, including the September 2023 act of aggression and the recent terrorist attack on Kosovo’s vital infrastructure.
Madam President stated that it is time for the EU’s unjust measures against Kosovo to be finally lifted, as according to her, in addition to being unjust, these measures are directly harming the citizens of Kosovo, without distinction.
