The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga received today the Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo, Mr. Gani G\u00ebrguri.<\/p>\n

President Jahjaga, during the meeting, said that the Central Bank has played an important role in the development of a stable banking system in Kosovo and called the fact that commercial banks in Kosovo without major consequences faced the financial crisis which caused the bankruptcy of many businesses worldwide good news.<\/p>\n

She added that the role of the CBK will continue to be key in maintaining the financial stability of Kosovo. In this context, she added, it is significant to build the capacity needed at the CBK to provide the necessary assistance to the banking system.<\/p>\n

President Jahjaga said she will support the further strengthening and completing of the legislative and institutional framework related to the banking system and especially to the Central Bank.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, she urged the Central Bank and through it even the commercial banks in Kosovo to work towards improving the conditions for even greater support of the businesses in Kosovo, adding that the strengthening and growth of private businesses is a prerequisite for economic development in Kosovo and therefore also for the further consolidation of the banking system.<\/p>\n

For his part, The Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo, Mr. Gani Gerguri Jahjaga president informed with the work of the institution he heads and assured her of further strengthening the independence and professionalism of the CBK, in service of a stable banking system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
