The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, received today the NATO peacekeeping force commander, KFOR, General Erhard Drews.<\/p>\n
President Jahjaga informed General Drews on the commencement of the meetings with heads of security institutions and mechanisms, local and international, based on her constitutional and legislative powers, in an effort to coordinate the institutional actions.<\/p>\n
She said that the meetings she is conducting are being made in order to evaluate the security situation in the Republic of Kosovo, after the bomb attack which occurred last week in Mitrovica.<\/p>\n
President Jahjaga stressed that the assistance of the KFOR peacekeeping force is needed to establish peace and order and to help the Serbian citizens in the three municipalities in northern Kosovo to live freely and without fear of criminal and illegal structures which are operating in this part of the territory of Kosovo.<\/p>\n
KFOR Commander, General Erhard Drews, stressed that the peacekeeping forces in Kosovo will continue to fulfill its mandate of maintaining a secure environment for all citizens of Kosovo regardless of their ethnic background.<\/p>\n
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, a day before has also met with other leaders of security institutions and mechanisms, local and international, in order to evaluate the security situation in Kosovo.<\/p>\n
She has met the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Bajram Rexhepi, the Minister of the Security Force, Mr. Agim \u00c7eku, the director of the Intelligence Agency, Mr. Bashkim Smakaj, the Deputy Head of Mission of the EU rule of law mission, EULEX, Mr. Andy Sparkes and the Deputy Head of the International Civilian Office (ICO), Mr. Christopher Rowan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
