Regional and International Women Leaders from Public, Private and Civil Society Sector Set to Convene<\/p>\n
PRISTINA, KOSOVO – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, MadamAtifeteJahjaga,will host “Partnership for Change: Empowering Women,” an International Women’s Summit on 4-6 October, 2012 in Prishtina, Kosovo.
\n\u00a0
\nA diverse group of more than 200 public and private sector leadersfrom Kosovo, neighboring countries in southeastern Europe, as well as from wider Europe, North America, the Middle East, North Africa and elsewhere, will convene for three days of discussions.\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nThe summit, the first of its kind for the region, will address economic development, political participation and the security of women as well as the factors that affect the position of women in the society, their economic empowerment and the constitutional and electoral barriers to full participation of women in politics and decision-making.
\n\u00a0
\nPresident Jahjaga has emphasized that “the security of women is security of the society,” and by hosting the summit, wants to harness the expertise and experiences of women leaders from around the world to develop solutions for the distinct challenges that confront women.
\n\u00a0
\nThe International Women’s Summit aims to build bridges of cooperation, communication and partnership between public offices and private enterprises, between academia and policy-makers not only within the borders of a country but also between nations, neighboring countries and beyond.

\nThe Summit is organized by the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) andthe organizational support of\u00a0 the National Democratic Institute (NDI).
