We are gathered here today, along with our international friends, with whom we’re bound by our centuries-old history in our journey for freedom, independence and democracy. <\/p>\n
We are celebrating this special day in the history of our people, of the hoisting of the flag in Vlora declaring Albania’s independence that brought an end to occupation to become a sovereign in our own lands just like the other nations of the region. <\/p>\n
In this 100th anniversary, we turn our heads to honor the sacrifice and the work of all the generations, to evaluate our joint engagement and to make the big leap forward toward our goal of membership into the European Union and NATO, in a permanent friendship with the United States of America.<\/p>\n
This century began with the declaration of Albania’s independence and concluded with Kosovo’s freedom. With the raising of the flag Albanians returned to the European family and reinstated the traditional values of the Western civilization.<\/p>\n
Today the Albanian nation lives in freedom in all its lands realizing the aspiration to be equal with other nations. <\/p>\n
As in no other time in our history we have the chance to work for a prosperous future, as a factor of stability, in cooperation and by building good neighborly relations with all the countries and peoples. In peace! <\/p>\n
The era of hegemony, imposition and the ideology of hatred is over once and for all.<\/p>\n
This is the century of integration and mutual understanding, of mutual help for our overall progress. <\/p>\n
On this anniversary I wish for the well-being and the prosperity of the Albanian nation, of the friendly countries and peoples. <\/p>\n
I thank Albania for all the help and the support in all the periods, as a country and as a place that developed good relations with everyone, being a factor of peace and stability, a catalyst of regional and sincere cooperation between equals. <\/p>\n
