President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the US Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs member, the Connecticut Senator Mr. Chris Murphy., with whom she discussed the actual developments in Kosovo and the processes which the country is going through.<\/p>\n
Welcoming him to Kosovo, President Jahjaga highly praised the role of the US Government, of the Senate and of the US Congress in Kosovo and in the region of the western Balkans as a whole, and pointed out that the achievements of Kosovo during the six years of its independence are closely linked to the engagement and strong support of the USA, as they are linked to the liberty and peace which the citizens of the country enjoy today.<\/p>\n
President Jahjaga said that Kosovo, as a young and an all-inclusive state, is consolidating its internal democracy as well as its international representation, and has become a factor of peace and stability and nurtures a policy of good neighbourliness with all countries of the region, inclusive of Republic of Serbia.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Madam President also added that Kosovo is dedicated to the dialogue process with Republic of Serbia on normalisation of relations between the two countries and opening of the path to EU integrations. She also pointed out the fact that the results of the dialogue process can only be judged through complete implementation of the agreements achieved during the process facilitated by EU, and that Serbia’s advancement to EU membership must be conditioned with the progress in implementation of agreements achieved in Brussels.<\/p>\n
Kosovo is interested to conclude this process with the normalisation of relations between the two independent states, said President Jahjaga, with aim that both countries move closer towards EU, on their individual paths, as EU for Kosovo, as well as for the countries of the region, has no other alternative.<\/p>\n
President Jahjaga said that Kosovo has achieved great advances and is concentrated to accomplishment of deep internal reforms, in building of a state of law and particularly in building of relations with its citizens of different communities.<\/p>\n
Madam President also informed Senator Murphy with the actual developments, with particular emphasis with the institutional knot, stating that Kosovo has held free, democratic and all-inclusive elections. She also said that Kosovo has so far shown political maturity and respect for its constitutional framework stating that this institutional impasse is now harming the interests both internally and in the international arena. Madam President stated that in the role of the facilitator of the discussions with between leaders of parliamentary political parties she has commenced with meetings with leaders aiming for finding of solution to viable institution and has made known to them the position in which Kosovo is today and obligations of the country as well.
