The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Isa Mustafa held a meeting this evening with the ambassadors and representatives of the member countries of the EU, accredited in Kosovo, in order to address the issues of illegal migration of the citizens of Kosovo.<\/p>\n
At the meeting President Jahjaga stressed the big concern of the institutions of the country with the large number of the citizens of Kosovo who are leaving the country, an influx which has increased in the last two months in particular. She said that the institutions of Kosovo have their responsibility to address the issues related to the citizens, their welfare and their migration, but this issue needs to be dealt together with all the EU countries, to help solve this phenomenon.<\/p>\n
President Jahjaga emphasized that the institutions of Kosovo are carefully addressing all the causes of the increasment of the number of the citizens of Kosovo who migrate illegally and are working on solving the open issues, on the economic development of the country, the return of the perspective of the citizens and restoring the rule of law and order. She said it is concerning that because of the current relations with the Republic of Serbia, which has opened all the doors for the exit of the citizens of Kosovo, the institutions of Kosovo do not have direct access to the developments at the border with Hungary.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n
President Jahjaga stressed that it is important that the ambassadors and the representatives of the EU member states support the efforts of the institutions of Kosovo to clarify the citizens of the country the position of their countries for asylum seekers.<\/p>\n
The ambassadors of the member states of the EU, accredited in Kosovo, have expressed their concern with the increasing number of asylum seekers from Kosovo and said that their countries are treating this recent phenomenon with care. They stressed that economic measures must be presented to address the situation. They also said that Kosovo must be prepared for the admission of the citizens of Kosovo after their return procedures in Kosovo.
