The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Mr. Edgars Rinkevics.<\/p>\n

President Jahjaga and Minister Rinkevics discussed about the general developments in Kosovo and about the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, where they stressed the importance of strengthening the cooperation and support for Kosovo especially in the process of integration into the North Atlantic structures. <\/p>\n

President Jahjaga stressed that priority for the institutions and the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo is the rule of law and order, combating organized crime and corruption and the economic development of the country. She underlined that despite the challenges, Kosovo today promotes peace and stability in the region and this is the joint success of the institutions, the citizens of Kosovo and the international friends. President Jahjaga discussed with Minister Rinkevics also about the European perspective, including the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement during the summer and the meeting of the conditions for visa liberalization. One of the remaining conditions is also reaching the agreement on readmission between the Republic of Kosovo and Latvia. <\/p>\n

Regarding the establishment of the Special Court, President Jahjaga stressed that Kosovo is in the process of the finalization of this responsibility and this international obligation.<\/p>\n

President Jahjaga and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Mr. Edgars Rinkevics, also discussed about the dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia.<\/p>\n

They stressed that in this process apart from the reaching of the agreement, for the normalization of relations between the two countries, the concrete commitment for their implementation in practice is very important.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

They agreed that the implementation of these agreements to be a prerequisite for the process of Serbia’s integration into the EU.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Mr. Edgars Rinkevics expressed his country’s commitment to continue the cooperation and support for the institutions and the citizens of Kosovo in all spheres of mutual interest.
