President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today the President of Republic of Malta, Her Excellency, Ms. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, who is visiting Kosovo on an official state visit, upon an invitation from President Jahjaga.<\/p>\n
She was received with state ceremonies at the “Ibrahim Rugova” Square, where both Presidents inspected the Ceremonial Guard of the Kosovo Security Force.<\/p>\n
Later, Presdient Jahjaga and President Coleiro Preca held a head to head meeting, which continued with a joint meeting of delegations of both sides. <\/p>\n
Relations between Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Malta were points of discussion at the meetings, as was the intensification of such relations in the fields of mutual interest, especially in the fields of economy and investments, and support which Malta can provide to Kosovo on its EU integration process and its membership in international organisations.<\/p>\n
Meeting was also attended by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms. Hykmete Bajrami and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Mr. Memli Krasniqi.<\/p>\n
After the meeting, Presidents Jahjaga and Coleiro Preca held a press conference.<\/p>\n

I have the honour to welcome today the President of the Republic of Malta, Ms. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, a great friend of our country and supporter of our processes and our democratic consolidation.<\/p>\n
President Marie Louise, welcome to Kosovo, on this first visit of yours to my country, and I would like to express my gratitude and the appreciation of my people to the Republic of Malta, who has only few months after the declaration of independence recognized Kosovo’s statehood. This step has opened the way to development of relations between our two countries.<\/p>\n
With the Presdient of Malta we discussed a number of issues of mutual interest for both our countries, particularly the deepening and expansion of relations in the fields of economy and investments.<\/p>\n
Kosovo has great potentials and resources, and Republic of Malta, as a EU member state, can become an important and strategic partner of Kosovo, and this would help both countries in further strengthening of relations and their overall development.<\/p>\n
Republic of Kosovo today is a democracy in development, and important factor of stability and peace in the region, with a clear aim to become an equal member of EU and at the same time member of all other international organisations. Kosovo today is an important and strategic partner of the democratic world in the global security architecture and in the uncompromising war against any kind of extremism. Kosovo’s international consolidation is an important step for the stability, not only in the region, but at the same time of strengthening of the peace and preservation of the European perspective of every country in the Balkan region.<\/p>\n
Kosovo’s contractual relations with EU, through the Stabilisation-Association Agreement, has opened the European perspective to Kosovo and this will help in deepening of the required reforms, which lead towards building of the state of law and preservation of its cultural and religious diversity, as well as all-inclusiveness. <\/p>\n
European path is the unavoidable journey of all countries of the Balkan region, which must get used to the newly created realities by building good neighbourly relation which lead towards a large scale reconciliation in Balkans. <\/p>\n
Kosovo is a small country with lots of potential, both natural and human, and Republic of Malta can help the process of our development and in our European path.<\/p>\n
