Malta, Valletta, December 05 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Tha\u00e7i, has been received today by the President of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, at the Presidential Palace in Valletta, the capital of Malta, at the commencement of his presidential visit to this country.<\/p>\n
President Coleiro Preca has welcomed President Tha\u00e7i and expressed her happiness that Malta is among the first countries to recognize Kosovo’s independence and that since then it has been consolidated as a state.<\/p>\n
President Tha\u00e7i expressed his satisfaction for being on a visit to the friend country, Malta, and the deepening of the cooperation between two countries is requested.<\/p>\n
“I am pleased to be here to work on the deepening of the cooperation between our two countries”, said President Tha\u00e7i.<\/p>\n
President Preca requested that the relations between the two countries to be extended particularly in the economic field, while President Tha\u00e7i recommended to consider the possibility of a meeting between the two chambers of commerce of the two countries, to open way to develop meetings among businesses of the two countries.<\/p>\n
President Tha\u00e7i thanked President Preca for the continued support of Malta for Kosovo.<\/p>\n
“I express the gratitude to you as President, to the state institutions of Malta for supporting Kosovo, once in the framework of the international organizations operating in Kosovo and now as an independent state. We appreciate your support in all international organizations and forums where you promote and support Kosovo”, said President Tha\u00e7i.<\/p>\n
Since Malta will be the next chair of the EU presidency from January 1st, 2017, President Tha\u00e7i requested from Malta that Brussels should keep the attention on the Western Balkans.<\/p>\n
“The aspiration of the Western Balkan countries to become part of the EU must not suffer. EU delays to draw the Western Balkans region near to itself, especially Kosovo is a threat to security because it opens the way to nationalist, radical and fundamentalist ideologies”, said President Tha\u00e7i.<\/p>\n
President Preca said that Malta will also require from other EU countries to keep the attention on the Western Balkans.<\/p>\n
“We need to confirm that the Western Balkans have a secure European perspective”, said President Preca.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malta, George Wella, who was a member of the Maltese delegation at the meeting, said that “the EU should confirm in a concrete way the support for the Western Balkan countries”.<\/p>\n
On this visit, President Tha\u00e7i was received with the highest state honors. Before the meeting, President Tha\u00e7i and President Preca paraded in front of Malta’s National Guard on the main square of the capital, Valletta.<\/p>\n
President Tha\u00e7i, has also put wreaths at the memorial of the martyrs in the Maltese capital. During the day, the President will have numerous meetings with representatives of public and political life in Malta.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
