Lipjan, January 14, 2017 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Tha\u00e7i, has unveiled today the statue of martyr Ismail Luma in the Elementary Low Middle School “Ismail Luma” in Lipjan, and has decorated him with the Order “Hero of Kosovo”.<\/p>\n
This decoration, President Tha\u00e7i handed over today to family Luma.<\/p>\n
“When we are unveiling the statue of the hero of Kosovo, Ismail Luma, our memory returns to the name of a residence of Kosovo with the name Re\u00e7ak, where 18 years ago the history that shocked the conscience of the democratic world took place”, stated President Tha\u00e7i.<\/p>\n
The alarm for this plotted crime on the morning of 15 January 1999, President Tha\u00e7i said that was given by the gun of the fearless warrior, the heavy machine gun of Ismail Luma, who fell heroically on the line of duty, defending the homeland.<\/p>\n
“The fall of Ismail Luma was a sublimation of the vital goals of his family, the resistance of generations of family Luma, who had only one dream and only one ideal, the war for the liberation of Kosovo”, said President Tha\u00e7i.<\/p>\n
The hero Ismail Luma, according to the President, fell with the gun on his hand on the altar of freedom, warning his fellow comrades for the bloody battle.<\/p>\n
President Tha\u00e7i said that Re\u00e7ak was the turning point of the developments that led to and accelerated the organization of the International Conference of Rambouillet.<\/p>\n
He said that for the first time at an international conference, Kosovo was represented with its own authentic voice.<\/p>\n
“Out of this conference emerged the political base that NATO, the most powerful military organization of the democratic world to intervene in the protection of the people of Kosovo. Kosovo was liberated and opened new chapters of the free life. This freedom we enjoy today is the result of the numerous efforts and sacrifices. It is a product of the blood and sacrifice of hero Ismail Luma and his comrades”, said President Tha\u00e7i.<\/p>\n
He added that Kosovo is now a success story of the cooperation of the Kosovo institutions and the international support.<\/p>\n
Above all, according to President Tha\u00e7i, Kosovo is now a factor of peace and stability in the region, with a clear orientation towards Euro-Atlantic integrations.<\/p>\n
