Tokyo, October 23 \u2013 The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Tha\u00e7i, has granted awards to Japanese officials and personalities who have contributed in Kosovo and for Kosovo at a ceremony organized at the Japanese Assembly building in Tokyo.<\/p>\n
Yuriko Koike, currently Governor of Tokyo, who has helped Kosovo while having had other official capacities, including helping to provide housing for hundreds of Kosovars returning to their homes in the fall of 1999, has been awarded the Presidential Medal \u201cSaint Mother Teresa\u201d.<\/p>\n
The \u201cHonorary Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo\u201d Award has been awarded to Ryu Shionoya, Head of the Kosovo-Japan Friendship Group in the Assembly of Japan, for his contribution to promoting Kosovo in Japan.<\/p>\n
The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kosovo to Japan, at the same time Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan, Isao Iijima, was honored with the \u201cHonorary Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo\u201d Award for promoting and affirming the interests of the Republic of Kosovo in Japan and beyond.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Yoshifumi Okamura, who served as Advisor to the SRSG within the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, best known in Kosovo as the Japanese Ambassador to the United Nations, who promoted the wine of Kosovo in the UN Security Council, has been awarded the title \u201cDr. Ibrahim Rugova\u201d for his contribution to peacebuilding and the development of democracy in Kosovo.<\/p>\n
Former UNMIK Administrator in Skenderaj, Ken Inoue, has been awarded the Presidential Medal \u201cSaint Mother Teresa\u201d for his contribution to the field of humanity and peace in Kosovo, especially for his personal commitment, at that time, to the healing of the little girl Besjana Musliu, who suffered severe burns to the head during the war.<\/p>\n
The same medal, with the same pretext, was awarded to the ADRA Agency and the Adventist Hospital in Tokyo.<\/p>\n
The President of the Republic of Albania, Ilir Meta also participated at this ceremony organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Tokyo, Japan.<\/p>\n
President Tha\u00e7i said he feels obliged, but also privileged, to express gratitude to those who did the right thing at the right time.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is not said in vain that true friends are proven in difficult times\u201d, stated President Tha\u00e7i, adding that today Kosovo is a partner of the international community and is beginning to give the world more than it receives \u201cby providing the world with talents and skills in many fields, from technology to sports and art\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like that, today, by showing gratitude to you, to jointly mark the entry into the second decade of our cooperation, where Kosovo is no longer seen as a country to be helped, but as a country, with which a partnership is established, evolving towards a win-win report for both countries\u201d, said President Tha\u00e7i.<\/p>\n
