The acting President Vjosa Osmani, on the occasion of International Women's Day has awarded the “Shot\u00eb Galica” order to eight women who, through their activity, have contributed to the advocacy and promotion of gender equality and to the justice cause and effort.<\/p>\n
According to the acting President Osmani, each one of these women and organizations, are known for their courage in pursuit of their rights, protection of integrity and truth. She stated that only by having brave women and gender equality the societies like ours can advance. She stressed that these women and associations constitute the model of activists who have turned their personal destiny into a cause for the common good, striving to triumph over the truth and becoming a leader in advancing gender equality and human rights in general.

\nThe “Shot\u00eb Galica” order is awarded to persons who have advocated, committed acts of bravery or acts of courage for gender equality.

The award recipients are:

\nVasfije Krasniqi – a real heroine of our days. The woman who turned pain into courage and an example of how social stereotypes and prejudices can and should be challenged. The woman who spoke publicly about the horror experienced during the last war and the sexual rape by Serbian forces and the merit for paving the way for all women survivors of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo. For the courage shown in her fight for justice, Mrs. Vasfije Krasniqi is awarded the presidential order “Shot\u00eb Galica”.

Shyhrete Tahiri- Sylejmani – the woman who followed step by step the path to justice for the injustice done to her and many women and girls in Kosovo. Survivor of sexual violence in the recent war in Kosovo, Shyhrete Tahiri – Sylejmani is bestowed the award for her courage to publicly demand the punishment of rapists. Mrs. Shyhrete Tahiri- Sylejmani is awarded the presidential order “Shot\u00eb Galica” for raising of the voice that helped strengthen the voice of cry of many other girls and women across our country.

Shehrije Balaj – the first woman to testify in Belgrade against Serb forces who raped her during the Kosovo war. Although she died in 2018, she remains the heroine of today. For her courage, Mrs. Shehrije Bala is awarded the presidential order “Shot\u00eb Galica”.
\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Marte Tunaj – is one of the first women in Kosovo to testify about wartime rape by Serbian forces. During the most difficult moments of the KLA war, she responded to their call and provided extraordinary contribution. She is no longer alive, but her work is immortal. For the example given and the courage, Mrs. Marte Tunaj is awarded the presidential order “Shot\u00eb Galica”.

“Mothers' Call” Association – An association which for years now deals with the process of bringing to light of the fate of missing persons during the recent war in Kosovo. \u201cMother\u2019s Call\u201d remains the most resounding call in our country for justice. And the mothers of Gjakova never surrendered and will not surrender until justice wins in the country. For the endurance, determination and tireless work over the years, “Mothers' Call” the association is awarded the “Shot\u00eb Galica” order.

\nShpresa Loshaj – a true torchbearer, an incomparable braveheart, a fighter for the inclusion and activism in her efforts to protect the rivers of Kosovo. For her tireless work, for remaining true to her call as well as for the courage to challenge injustices and the courage shown in the protection of Kosovo's natural resources, Mrs. Shpresa Loshaj is awarded today the “Shot\u00eb Galica” order.

Arjeta Musliu – the woman who decided to turn her pain into strength, thus opening the counseling center 'Ri-Jeta\u201d in order to come to the aid of all young people who face the addiction to narcotics. Arjeta is an example of how life challenges turn into motivation to help others in need, and how pain itself can help us alleviate the pain of others. For the support of hundreds of families, parents and especially mothers, Mrs. Arjeta Musliu is awarded today the “Shot\u00eb Galica” order.

Fahrije Hoti – She is the founder of the “Krusha” company which employs fifty women, most of whom have been widowed during the last war in Kosovo. The establishment of the Widow Women Association in 2003 which aims to bring to light the fate of missing persons was the first step. Two years later, Fahrije launched a personal initiative for the preparation of pickles. This initiative in 2010 was transformed into the well-known “Krusha” company. Mrs. Fahrije Hoti is awarded today the “Shot\u00eb Galica” order as a woman who never stopped believing and daring despite all the prejudice.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
