The President of the Republic Dr. Vjosa Osmani concluded today the visit to Turkey, during which she participated at the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) annual summit, at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, and had several meetings with senior leaders of various countries and with the EU High Representative Joseph Borell.<\/p>\n
Initially, Ms. Osmani, as Kosovo's representative at the \u00a0South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) annual summit, delivered an address in which she spoke of the challenges faced by the region, the EU integration process as well as the opportunities for regional cooperation.
\nThe President reiterated the importance that the EU member states, which have not as yet recognized Kosovo, do so, in order to create the possibility for Kosovo and the region to integrate speedily into the EU and NATO.
\nShe also discussed the role that the Republic of Kosovo is playing as a factor of stability in the region.<\/p>\n
\u00a0President Osmani was also part of the “Global Governance” panel, which discussed issues related to global governance and new approaches to global solutions.
\nPresident Osmani stressed that the COVID19 pandemic, in addition to the health emergency, has increased inequalities and proved that we need to review the current model of globalization.<\/p>\n
Later on, President Osmani met with the President of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with whom she discussed the excellent cooperation between the two countries as well as possibilities for further expansion of this cooperation.<\/p>\n
During his stay in Turkey \u00a0President of Kosovo Dr. Vjosa Osmani also met with the EU High Representative Mr. Joseph Borell. At this meeting, Ms Osmani also spoke in relation to the dialogue with Serbia, which according to her, should end with the recognition of Kosovo's independence.
\nImmediate visa liberalization was another request made by President Osmani. According to her, Kosovo has met all the criteria, a greater number than any other country, which has benefited from free movement within the EU countries, so there is no reason for this issue to be further dragged on. The visa process should not be linked to the dialogue with Serbia, as a process of normalizing of relations between two independent states.<\/p>\n
Also, President Osmani met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Mr. Shah Mahmood Qureshi, as well as a number of representatives of non- recognising countries.<\/p>\n
At the end of the visit, President Osmani also participated at the \u00a0Antalya diplomacy forum and had a very pleasant conversation with the youth of this forum, where she spoke about the challenges that young people face in politics and the opportunities they have to influence political decision-making.<\/p>\n
