Our history\u2014from the resistance by Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg to the struggle of the Kosovo Liberation Army and the declaration of independence\u2014bears witness to the enduring endeavor of the Albanian people for freedom, dignity, and the right to decide their own future.<\/p>\n
Therefore, as we reflect on the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, we grasp the profound meaning this date holds for the Hungarian people. The resistance of Hungarian citizens in the face of oppression is an integral part of the European history of freedom. The historical ties between Albanians and Hungarians are evidenced by the relationship between our national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, and your hero, J\u00e1nos Hunyadi\u2014and later his son, Matthias Corvinus. These relations unfolded during a significant period in European history.<\/p>\n
Their example reminds us that cooperation between peoples, when rooted in shared interests and goals, can transcend borders and differences. This historical legacy also serves as an important point of reference for the contemporary relationship between Kosovo and Hungary.<\/p>\n

Hungary recognized the independence of the Republic of Kosovo in March 2008 and currently contributes over 400 troops to the KFOR mission, which plays a vital role in maintaining a secure environment and stability in Kosovo. Cooperation in education\u2014including the opportunities provided by the “Stipendium Hungaricum” scholarship program\u2014offering young Kosovars avenues to acquire knowledge, exchange experiences and forge new connections with Hungarian institutions and society. Economic relations and political dialogue also create opportunities to further expand our partnership.<\/p>\n
