The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, attended the ceremony marking the 27th anniversary of the establishment of the Kosovo Police, where she commended the institution\u2019s contribution to maintaining public order, security, and the sovereignty of the Republic.<\/p>\n
In her address, Acting President Haxhiu recalled that the Kosovo Police was established only a few months after the liberation, on 6 September 1999, when 176 cadets started their training in Vushtrri as its first generation.<\/p>\n
\u201cLiberation was not the end of the road. It was the beginning of a great responsibility to build a state in the service of its citizens, one that would protect their lives and dignity, and where the law would be equal for all. Therefore, the history of the Kosovo Police is an inseparable part of Kosovo\u2019s journey as a free country,\u201d said Acting President Haxhiu.<\/p>\n
She highlighted that, from the first 176 cadets to more than 9,000 police officers serving today, the Kosovo Police has grown and professionalized alongside the state.<\/p>\n
Referring to the high level of citizens\u2019 trust in the Kosovo Police, Acting President Haxhiu said that this trust is both an assessment and a responsibility.<\/p>\n
\u201cCitizens\u2019 trust is not a permanent privilege of any institution. It is earned through hard work, preserved through integrity, and demonstrated every day through the way we treat citizens and enforce the law,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Acting President Haxhiu also commended the development of the Kosovo Police\u2019s professional and operational capacities in the fight against organized crime, human trafficking, terrorism, economic and cybercrime, and smuggling, as well as its ever-expanding cooperation with European security partners.<\/p>\n
She reaffirmed the importance of the Republic of Kosovo\u2019s membership in INTERPOL, emphasizing that Kosovo\u2019s full inclusion in international security mechanisms is in the shared interest of combating international crime.<\/p>\n
