The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received today the Director of the Institute for War Crimes in Kosovo (IKKL), Mr. Atdhe Hetemi, with whom she discussed the institute\u2019s work to date, the challenges, and the importance of continuing to document crimes committed during the war in Kosovo.<\/p>\n
President Osmani congratulated the IKKL team on their two-year work and the submission of the institute\u2019s second annual report.
\nThe fact was emphasized at the meeting that to date, the IKKL has collected about 400 linear meters of physical material and over 20 terabytes of digital data, obtained from 650 different sources.<\/p>\n
According to President Osmani, documentation, archiving and research on the crimes committed during the recent war in Kosovo are essential not only to preserve the collective memory of the people of Kosovo, but also to shed light on the truth of the genocide committed by Serbia.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must not allow history to be forgotten, on the contrary, we must strengthen our common call for justice to be served\u201d, emphasized President Osmani. In this context, she underlined the need for close inter-institutional cooperation, especially with the State Prosecution and the Kosovo Police, to ensure that every piece of evidence is used in the service of justice.<\/p>\n
