The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received today the Director for the Western Balkans at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Michael Reiffenstuel, with whom she discussed the latest developments in the country and the region, with a focus on developments related to the constitution of the parliament. They also discussed the further strengthening of bilateral relations, economic cooperation and the strengthening of Kosovo’s position in the international arena.<\/p>\n
President Osmani confirmed Kosovo’s readiness for extensive cooperation with Chancellor Merz’s Government. Furthermore, President Osmani praised Germany’s vital role in protecting democratic values, transatlantic unity and European security.<\/p>\n
President Osmani underlined that Germany has been and remains a strategic pillar to Kosovo in maintaining regional stability, as well as advancing Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic path.<\/p>\n
Madam President requested Berlin’s continued support for Kosovo’s full international integration, and in particular in the Council of Europe, recognizing Germany’s role in the Council and the importance of this process to the strengthening of democratic institutions and protection of human rights.<\/p>\n
At the meeting, Madam President also potentiated the necessity of Kosovo’s advancement towards NATO membership, clearly elaborating on the contribution that such a move would make in guaranteeing long-term security and stability in the region and Europe as a whole.<\/p>\n
