During her visit to Washington D.C., the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met with the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the Department of State, Louis Bono.<\/p>\n
The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Kosovo and the United States of America in line with the objectives of President Trump\u2019s Administration, as well as advancing cooperation in key areas such as defense and economy.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, President Osmani reaffirmed the Republic of Kosovo’s commitment to closely cooperating with the United States and deepening bilateral relations.<\/p>\n
President Osmani emphasized the importance of strengthening regional security and the need for a strong preventive stance in the face of ongoing threats from Russia, Serbia and other malign actors. In this context, President Osmani underlined the necessity of close cooperation to maintain regional stability and peace.<\/p>\n
President Osmani also spoke about the importance of Kosovo\u2019s integration into NATO, which, in addition to strengthening security in Kosovo and the region, is ultimately in line with US strategic objectives for global peace and security. She confirmed that Kosovo has already increased its defense budget to 2% of its Gross Domestic Product and is in the process of increasing it further to meet the strategic objective of NATO membership.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, President Osmani confirmed Kosovo\u2019s readiness to actively engage in the implementation of the Strategic Dialogue, which was offered to Kosovo earlier this year, to address common challenges and priorities in various areas.<\/p>\n
