On the 25th anniversary, we commemorate the two nights of terror of February 3rd and 4th, 2000 in the northern part of Mitrovica, we honor with utmost respect the lost lives of 10 innocent citizens, elderly, women and children \u2013 who were cruelly killed by criminal gangs incited by Serbia. In this brutal attack, 24 citizens were also injured, thus evidencing the barbarity of those two nights.<\/p>\n
Another painful evidence are the 1,564 families, with a total of 11,364 members, forcibly displaced from their homes, clearly testifying to the efforts for ethnic cleansing in this part of Mitrovica by criminal groups.<\/p>\n
These days are a powerful reminder of the resistance and the struggle to remain in their homeland, but also of the need to defend the freedom achieved with blood and sacrifice.<\/p>\n
Justice for the victims and punishment of the perpetrators of these crimes remain a necessity for a lasting peace.<\/p>\n
