The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, on the 16th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kosovo, has participated in a number of activities.<\/p>\n
Initially, President Osmani participated at the national flag raising ceremony.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, President Osmani said that today we mark the greatest historical achievement of our people.<\/p>\n
“Today, we mark the greatest historical achievement of our people. We mark the day when our country was declared independent, sovereign, free and democratic. During these 16 years of our state, Kosovo has taken important steps forward and is determined to show the world that it has not only deserved its freedom and independence, but is also a contributor to peace, stability and security beyond its borders”, said President Osmani.<\/p>\n
Conveying her felicitations to all the citizens of the country on Independence Day, President Osmani said that each one of them has made a valuable contribution so that today we may enjoy our country.<\/p>\n
“I want to congratulate all the citizens of Kosovo, because each of them has made a valuable contribution so that today we may enjoy our country, but in particular I want to remember all those who gave their most precious, their lives,\u00a0 for us to live free today, all the martyrs of the nation, all the martyrs of our Republic”, said President Osmani.<\/p>\n
President Osmani also added that on this day we remember again the vision of the architect of independence, President Ibrahim Rugova and the unparalleled sacrifice, bravery and courage of the Jashari family and all the soldiers of the Kosovo Liberation Army led by the Legendary Commander-in-Chief, Adem Jashari.<\/p>\n
“Glory to all those who gave their lives for Kosovo, for the state that we enjoy and celebrate today and which will continue to move forward without ever taking a single step back,” said Madam President.<\/p>\n
Later on, President Osmani took part attended other activities as part of the celebrations of the 16th anniversary of independence.<\/p>\n
President Osmani paid tribute at the Monument of the Missing followed by tribute at the tomb of former President Dr. Ibrahim Rugova.<\/p>\n
President Osmani also paid tribute at the tomb of the activist Adem Dema\u00e7i and at the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex in Prekaz.<\/p>\n
