April 24, 2019, Prishtina – The Preparatory Team for the Establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission held public consultations with the representatives of various media from all regions of Kosovo.
Expressing the importance of public speech and the media, the public consultation of this topic was raised to another level.
The Swiss Ambassador to Kosovo, Jean-Hubert Lebet, highly praised intensive work of the the Preparatory Team.
“Switzerland regularly follows the work of the Preparatory Team and we see it as very encouraging”, said Ambassador Jean-Hubert Lebet.
The panel from the Preparatory Team for the Establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was composed by Rron Gjinovci, Nora Ahmetaj and Arben Loshi, who first clarified the fundamental concepts of Transitional Justice, and then participants were introduced to the experiences of others, and also spoke about the President’s initiative for the Truth Commission in Kosovo and why it is of need.
During the discussion, the views expressed on the topic were very constructive, encouraging and extremely important at this stage of public consultations, and will undoubtedly reflect on the content of the Normative Act which is being drafted.
