The President to the women of Krusha: You stand firm in the pillars of our Republic, and we will stand strong for you and behind you until justice is served

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received Mrs. Fahrije Hoti accompanied by two other women from Krusha, to hand over the medals which the President awarded to them on March 8th of this year, the “Shotë Galica” order, to Mrs. Fahrije Hoti and 7 other women who have contributed to the advocacy and promotion of gender equality as well as to the cause and efforts for justice.

“Every time I have the special opportunity and honour to speak with these women, the need to insist on justice increases. Justice for their children who were killed in front of their eyes; justice for their spouses; justice for all those who disappeared by force, justice for every family that still cannot find peace and tranquillity since the 1999  war, ” said President Osmani.

Following is President Osmani's entire post:

On March 8th of this year, I awarded the “Shotë Galica” Order to Mrs. Fahrije Hoti and 7 other women who have contributed to advocating and promoting gender equality as well as to the cause and efforts for justice.

Unable to be present to accept the order that day, I hosted Mrs. Hoti and two other women from Krusha yesterday in my office. In 2005, the “Gratë e Veja” of Krusha, led by Mrs. Fahrije, started the initiative for the conservation of winter food, which in 2010 was transformed into the well-known company “Krusha”. The story of Mrs. Fahrije was recently immortalized through the feature film “Zgjoi” by director Blerta Basholli, which at this year's Sundance Festival achieved extraordinary success by receiving 3 awards.

Every time I have the special opportunity and honour to speak to these women, the need to insist on justice increases. Justice for their children who were killed in front of their eyes; justice for their spouses; justice for all those who disappeared by force, justice for every family that has not yet found peace and tranquillity since the 1999 war.

Mrs. Fahrije and the women of Krusha, as well as many other women throughout Kosovo, are the best evidence we have on how suffering and pain become a force to be reckoned with and a motivation to work for the resurrection and empowerment of women in Kosovo. You stand firm in the pillars of our Republic, and we will stand firm for you and after you until justice is served!
