Prishtina, July 13th, 2018 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, based on his constitutional competencies, decreed today the promulgation of eight laws from the field of justice, approved by the Parliament of Kosovo.
President Thaçi decreed the package of laws on the reform of the justice system, respectively the Criminal Code, the Law on Courts, the Law on Disciplinary Liability of Judges and Prosecutors, the Law on the Protection of Whistle-blowers, the Law on the Kosovo Judicial Council, the Law on the amendment and supplementation of the Law on Inheritance in Kosovo, and the Law on the amendment and supplementation of the Out Contentious Procedure.
President Thaçi highly praised the work carried out in reforming the rule of law sector.
“The efficiency of the rule of law is crucial to the functioning of democracy. Education, healthcare and employment policies cannot be advanced without quick access to justice. For the youth, justice is the only opportunity for a better future”, said President Thaçi.
He called upon the implementing institutions of this sector to enliven the changes, through the application of the laws and protection of the public interest of the citizens.
“The ccontinuous fight of the institutions of Kosovo against corruption is not only fulfillment of EU required criteria, but a necessity”, said President Thaçi.
The Head of State also pointed out that this is an obligation we have taken upon ourselves for the improvement of the wellbeing of the lives of our citizens and contribution to the building of a strong state of law.
