The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani commemorated Ukë Bytyqi on the 19th anniversary of his execution.
President Osmani said that 19 years ago today, the mayor of Suhareka Ukë Bytyqi, a prominent activist for the freedom and independence of Kosovo, a pious activist and like-minded associate of the historic president of Kosovo Dr. Ibrahim Rugova.

19 years ago today, the mayor of Suhareka Ukë Bytyqi, a prominent activist for the freedom and independence of Kosovo, a pious activist and like-minded associate of the historic president of Kosovo Dr. Ibrahim Rugova.
His courage and determination to act, his wisdom and sagacious words turned Ukë into a trustworthy man for the citizens of Suhareka and all of Kosovo.
He was assassinated together with his followers Bafti Bajrami and Bajram Bytyçi, while promoting the ideal of a state in which freedoms and human rights are respected, including the right to a free vote and civic expression.
May the memory of Ukë Bytyqi be eternal !
