The President of the Republic of Kosovo Dr. Vjosa Osmani – Sadriu recalled the
massacre of Studime, one of the most horrific massacres on Albanian civilians.
President Osmani said that on this very day of the year1999, in less than two hours,
Serb paramilitaries, soldiers and police killed 116 defenseless Albanians, of which
many children and women, including a pregnant mother.
“By remembering the victims and the horror inflicted on them by the Serbian regime,
we keep alive the memory of the victims, testify to our painful history, but also
reaffirm our commitment to not stop seeking justice for them until justice is served, ”
said President Osmani.

Every May 2nd, we commemorate the victims of the Studime massacre, one of the
most horrific massacres of Albanian civilians. In less than 2 hours in 1999, Serb
paramilitaries, soldiers and police killed 116 defenseless Albanians, of whom many
were children and women, including a pregnant mother.
The evidence speaks of a massacre planned in advance by Serbian forces. Many
were executed at close range in cold blood, with a bullet to the head, and others
were stabbed with bayonets or shot with automatic weapons. In dozens of cases,
Serbian symbols have been engraved on the bodies of those executed.
By remembering the victims and the horror inflicted on them by the Serbian regime,
we keep alive the memory of the victims, testify to our painful history, but also
reaffirm our commitment to not stop seeking justice for them until justice is served.
Only then can they rest peacefully and our conscience shall calm. Only when justice
rules by the rule of law, when the Serbian state is tried for the state crime, and when
the apology comes from the descendants of yesterday's Milosevic's regime, shall the
innocent victims rest in peace.
