The Fourth Summit of the Presidents of the States of the Western Balkans commenced its proceedings

The Fourth Summit of the Presidents of the States of the Western Balkans, Republic of Montenegro, Republic of Albania, Republic of Macedonia and Republic of Kosovo, commenced today, initially with bilateral meetings of delegations of participating countries.

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs Atifete Jahjaga, held separate meetings with the President of Macedonia, Mr Gjorge Ivanov, President of Albania Mr Bujar Nishani and with the President of Montenegro, Mr Filip Vujanović, with whom she discussed the expansion of cooperation between the countries of the region and creation of incentives and provision of facilities for the citizens of respective countries.

During the bilateral meetings, Presidents of the four countries of the Western Balkans emphasized the fact that the common future lies in integration in Euro-Atlantic structures and assessed that the integrational journey will be faster and in less effort through the cooperation between ourselves.

Issues also discussed at the meetings were those of joint regional projects in infrastructure that would enable the free movement of goods and people and would assist the countries of the Balkan region to enter the third markets together.

Presidents of the four participating countries assessed that good neighbourliness is of an utmost importance and emphasized the fact that the Summit must be enlarged to include the participation of other countries, inclusive of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will in turn help in relaxation and normalisation of relations between all the countries of Western Balkans.

The Summit of the four Presidents of the Balkan Region is continuing its proceedings with the multilateral meeting.

This summit is important to Kosovo as Kosovo participates as an equal to all other participating states.
