At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, the President of Malta George Vella visited Kosovo on an official visit, accompanied by the first lady Mary-Anne Vella, who were received with high state honors.
As part of this visit, the first gentleman Prindon Sadriu and the first lady Mary-Anne Vella participated at the opening ceremony of the first edition of the Women, Peace and Security Forum which was held at the initiative of President Vjosa Osmani.
In a tete-a-tete meeting, the First Gentleman Mr. Sadriu and the first lady Vella discussed not only the friendly relations between the two countries but also the possibilities of their expansion.
They continued with a visit to the Heroinat memorial. The First Gentleman Prindon Sadriu informed Mrs. Vella of the history of survivors of sexual violence perpetrated by the Serbian genocidal regime, to whom this work of art is dedicated. According to the first gentleman Sadriu, the voice of the survivors of sexual violence during the last war in Kosovo should be heard because only in this way it can influence the raising of awareness and the establishment of the missing justice for the survivors of this type of violence.
Following the visit, the First Gentleman Sadriu and the First Lady Vella visited the National Museum of Kosovo where they had the opportunity to see a part of the cultural heritage of Kosovo from different historical periods, including the liberation war of 1999.
The visit of President Vella and Mrs. Vella concluded with their participation alongside President Osmani and the First Gentleman Prindon Sadriu at the closing ceremony of the Women, Peace and Security Forum.
