The Acting President and the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly paid homage in Lybeniq, Peja

The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, at the same time also Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, together with the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Saranda Bogujevci, paid homage today in honor of the martyrs of Lybeniq.

The village of Lybeniq, during the last 98-99 war, experienced three horrific massacres.

“There are over 80 unarmed, innocent civilians who have been brutally killed and massacred by the police, military and paramilitary forces of Serbia”, said Acting President Glauk Konjufca, adding that so far nothing has been done by justice, for Serbian criminals to receive the punishment they deserve, and that family members who have lost their loved ones to be indemnified.

“Let us never forget that in these massacres, an 18-month-old baby and even pregnant women were killed and massacred by Serbian forces. This testifies to the cruelty and genocide of Serbia against the Albanian people”, added Mr. Konjufca.

He further said that the wounds are still open, as there are still many missing.

“There are open wounds, because Serbia is not showing where it hid the missing. This is a multiple crime by Serbia. Apart from massacring about 14,000 innocent civilians, sparing no children or women, Serbia has abducted their bodies and burned or hidden them in various locations, some of whom have been found in recent days”, said the Acting President. He further added that we should never stop seeking for justice, condemnation of the Serbian genocide, and that criminals should not move freely in Serbia. “The hand of justice must reach out and punish all those involved in these crimes”.

Whereas, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Saranda Bogujevci, said that not only this day, but almost every day we have commemorations across the country, and this shows the scale of crimes against our people.

“It is not an easy process, but we must make sure that justice is put in place. Only then, the family members will feel more relieved for their loved ones who gave their lives for our freedom and the state of Kosovo. We will push this issue forward”, promised the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Ms. Bogujevci.
