The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, on the occasion of February
17 th – the state independence day, received a congratulatory telegram from the
President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
In his telegram President Steinmeier recalls the year 2008, when he was in the post of the German Foreign Minister and when together with other US and European counterparts declared their support for the recognition of Kosovo's independence.
“So it is a special pleasure to be able to congratulate you on the fourteenth anniversary of your country's independence. Both our countries are closely related to each other in political, economic and cultural terms. “Many personal contacts bring us particularly close, above all those with the Kosovar diaspora in Germany” states President Steinmeier's telegram.
In his telegram President Steinmeier also mentions President Osmani's visit to Germany in September 2021.
“During your visit to Berlin last September, we had the opportunity to delve into many aspects of our bilateral relations. Germany strongly supports the perspective of the Republic of Kosovo in the European Union. In this context, the resolute implementation of your government's important reform agenda in the fight against corruption and organized crime is of great importance. “This will be a central factor in creating prospects for young people in Kosovo, strengthening the economy, new investments and job creation,” said President Steinmeier in his telegram.
